The beleaguered Trump and Iran MOU, to usher in months of negotiations towards some vision of ‘lasting peace’ between the US and Iran, was of course dead-on-arrival at its very inception, because it was a sham agreement between two bitter adversaries who had agreed on nothing at all - but due to Trump’s need to show ‘progress’ had agreed to pretend to agree to disagree indefinitely.

It is stunning how warped the global mind has become with the relentless propaganda of the nobility of national causes, even if in the name of those causes, racial, political or religious, unspeakable, unholy horrors are committed.

The pattern by now is crystal clear; Trump goes in with great bluster and bravado and comes out whipped, muttering inane neutralities, desperately trying to dilute and diffuse the interminable defeats in just about everything significant he vows to do.
