Meet Ashok Dhillon

Mr. Dhillon is a senior executive and entrepreneur that has founded and run his own companies in construction, finance, power project development and now a subscription based website focusing on Geopolitical Economic Trend Analysis: ADBlog.ca.
In 1970, Mr. Dhillon began his business career by joining the largest electrical retail and wholesale supplier in Western Canada. By 1974, he had become the youngest manager co-ordinator of the Special Projects Division. By 1975, he began his own construction firm and ran it successfully until 1984 at which time he branched into Whitehorse, Yukon Territories. Within the first six months he won the majority of contracts put out by the Indian Affairs Department of Canada. In 1986 he returned to Vancouver where he challenged and passed, with honours, Advanced Finance Course from UBC.
Mr. Dhillon entered the power project development business in late 1989. He founded, financed and guided Pacific Electric Power Development Corp. which successfully won the rights to develop two natural gas combined cycle power projects in Ontario. The full conceptualization and development of both projects were done by Pacific Electric. When both projects went to international bids, Pacific Electric brought in partners, AES & PanCanadian Oil & Gas for the 126MW in Kingston and Enron for the 350MW in Toronto. Pacific Electric won both the bids in 1992.The Indian power sector opened in 1992 to foreign investors, at which time Mr. Dhillon recognizing the potential of the Indian power market sold controlling interest in the Ontario projects to his partners and opened an office in Delhi, India, in March 1993. In Nov. 1993, through Pacific Electric, he selected and won the right to develop and build an 800MW thermal project in the State of Uttar Pradesh. In 1994, he founded Canasia Power Corp., to undertake the development of and to secure the rights to build additional power generating projects, the pipeline of which is over 4,000MW.

In 2012, Mr. Dhillon began writing about his analysis on geopolitical economic trends and created a website to deliver these opinions on current events. ADBlogs contains all these opeds where he is continuing with new posts regularly.
