Western Allies Face-Off - Against Big-Bad-America

It’s bizarre, but the Western allies and alliances are brought to an existential crisis NOT by adversaries or enemies, but their biggest former partner and ally, the United States of America - or as it will be known from here on out, big bad America, led by a true bizarro, Donald J. Trump.
The above statement is not hyperbole; the European leaders, including the United Kingdom, are in a tizzy as to how to prevent mad-wannabe-king Trump from forcefully annexing autonomous Greenland from Denmark, and are sending small contingents of troops to Greenland in a symbolic but radical show of unity and force against their biggest ally!!
Even Canada is forced to mull over joining them in that ridiculous exercise as a show of unity amongst NATO allies, even while it prepares military plans to be possibly invaded by the United States armed forces after Greenland!!
And, the whole thing is ridiculous (and there’s that word again), to say the least, because this is America they are squaring up against - their leader, ally, and co-defender of freedom, democracy and international rule of law, till now, but an America that under the leadership of Trump and the complicit Republicans has become a very real threat to stable global order as it actively undermines democratic values and institutions globally.
How the heck did it come to this?!!
From a cosmic perspective, so-to-speak, after 75 years of unprecedented peace and prosperity, post WWII, which resulted in tremendous progress in just about all areas of human existence, in most of the World, in spite of the needless and generally wasteful wars of America - Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan, etc. - it was one of the longest period of global prosperity.
During such times, rare in history, humanity, over time, forgets to be vigilant about the dark forces that had been defeated to achieve just such times, and lets down their collective guard to fall back to the careless animosities, greed, and power-posturing that lead back to the dark forces being unleashed all over again (the cosmic dance).
In the past 75 years, certainly there were plenty of times when bigger countries bullied and invaded smaller countries in the endless ‘power game’ that defines human history, but, overall, the world still achieved a level of general peace and prosperity seldom seen before.
Just China itself, elevated over an estimated 800 million people out of poverty with the support and openness of powerful, dominant but friendly western nations, especially America, under President Richard Nixon no less. India and other developing nations have followed suit, albeit to dramatically lesser degrees, but they all advanced in alleviating poverty and developing industrially. This was made possible with increasing openness and cooperation politically, and greater access to trade and technology transfers from wealthier nations to the developing ones.
After WWII, America slowly progressed from being freedom-loving and democratic, albeit bigoted and racist, to a more open and civil-rights embracing nation internally, as did the UK and Europe in general.
After the collapse of the great but scary Soviet Union (current day Russia), the world reaped the colossal ‘peace dividend’ that added additionally to the greater prosperity of the world.
But, as time shows, such good times tend to come to an end, as do the bad-times, just the duration of these times is the question.
Well, our 75 years of good times seem to have come to an end as a careless world (careless to the dangers of reemergence of dark forces such as the right-wing fascism, increasing corruption, and ever-growing and unmitigated greed) faces, once again, a right-wing fascist wannabe dictator that is corrupt and endlessly greedy, wanting to control the world.
During the good years, the rest of the democratic West got careless about their defence forces, choosing instead to focus almost solely on growing and enjoying the good-times, with neer a thought of being vigilant. The endless fixation on growing their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and promoting wealth-creation above all else resulted in ignoring the widening wealth disparity among their regular citizens, and their super-elite, and the shrinking and weakening of their individual and collective defence capabilities, relying on the immense power of their ‘leader’, the US, to keep them all safe and endlessly humming.
In America, practically the same scenario played out, the only difference being, as the remaining sole dominant Super Power in the world, it led to ever-widening corruption in politics, big business, and the armed forces, increasing overall enslavement to mega corporations and multi-billionaire individuals, and the pervasive military-industrial complex.
All-together, the democratic, western united world, ‘the Allies,’ that had emerged as the model of the most successful coalition, militarily, politically, and economically after the Second World War, became contended, careless and trusting that their ways were so obviously the best in all options available, they forgot that over time all things tend to swing back to the mean, which is chaos.
All that was needed to shock the world to the realities of time was a spark that would start the conflagration of chaos, and that spark came in the form of Donald Trump.
He first ignited and fanned the fire of growing discontent in America, and then he set the democratic world ablaze by smashing the stupor of long-held trust among the western democratic allies, while actively aiding all the adversarial forces of the post WWII democratic western world.
Does Trump belong to the dark side, of course he does. Just about all his actions, so far, have only helped America’s old and new adversaries, and hurt the old and new allies.
Even now as the European and the rest of the western democracy’s leaders scramble to push back against the unwarranted and naked aggression of America, the Russian leadership and the Chinese leadership, just to name the biggest adversaries, relax, as Trump’s actions make possible that which would have been impossible from them to have done, break-up the strongest cooperative and unified, most powerful economically and militarily block of western democracies that had existed in history, the North American Treaty Organization (NATO).
Additionally, by openly favouring Putin and Russia over the beleaguered and invaded Ukraine, Trump has forced Europe, Britain and Canada to break with America to actively continue their financial and military support for embattled Ukraine.
By initiating active trade wars against its biggest trading partners, namely Canada, China, Mexico, and Europe, Trump’s America has forced its trading partners to pull away and find and form new major trading coalitions, isolating an increasingly protectionist and erratic former trading partner.
How far will Trump go to break the established global political, ideological, economic and military order is anybody’s guess, but he has already gone too far! After his actions that have brought the world to this chaotic state, no one, and we mean no one, would be foolish enough to ever see America as a trusted friend, ally or trading partner.
Now, ironically, the democratic West is still looking to China as an ideological adversary, BUT, a more reliable trading partner. Canada’s Prime Minister’s recent trade deal with China is proof of that tectonic shift.
But as we have said before, Trump is not the only one responsible for the increasing vilification and diminution of the formerly ‘Great America’, there are still some 40% of the American people that not only support him in his madness but actually think he is doing the right thing. Right thing (?!), turning America into a terror State where its own citizens are not safe from State sponsored goons, and allies have to fear their biggest friend and ally? Ultimately, these shortsighted, hubristic, ill-informed Americans are going to be responsible for the fall of the once great America, because they do not understand that no matter how big and powerful, economically and militarily - ‘no man is an island entire of itself, every man is a piece of the continent, a piece of the main’ – as is every nation.
