From Lead Democracy to Depraved Despotism – A Bigly Trump Jump

Who would have guessed even a few years ago that one of the least brilliant and most incompetent entrepreneurs in America, a man who bankrupted almost all the businesses he started and had to be bailed out by questionable Russian money, whose first term in office as America’s President was an embarrassment of lies, corrupt incompetence and failed leadership, would be re-elected by the American electorate for a second term to further destroy what had been accidentally spared in his first term - or barely salvaged by Biden’s administration’s following term - to now face the full force of latent fascism in America through the inauguration of the Republican cult leader and defacto America’s first demented king, Donald J. Trump.

Every country is susceptible to tyranny, but America’s self-proclaimed exceptionalism in democracy seemed to be surprisingly short lived. After all, just a decade ago, America’s unchallenged title, ‘the leader of the free and democratic world’ seemed unassailable - and yet here we are, observing aghast, within months of Trump's second term, an America at war with itself, torn between crumbling democratic values/institutions and swift despotism, in a daily tirade of Trump's incoherent ramblings, and more often than not illegal diktats.

Of course Trump could not have done this by himself; the man can barely string a sentence together, or hold a thought long enough for it to become a coherent idea, let alone turn the world’s leading democracy into a theocratic fascist State within a decade of him descending the infamous escalator into America’s putrid money-infested political swamp that has now swallowed 'the shining city on the hill' whole.

It took the latent Nazism and fascism hiding within some 40+% of America population, within the right-wing religious nationalists, who like their Nazi and fascist kindred spirits in Europe welcomed a Hitler-like figure to free them from their post WWII retreat, to provide the up-swell of unconditional support to up-end America’s vaunted democracy into a full-blown autocracy. Aided and abetted by the majority Republican control on all legislative and executive arms of the government, dictator-wannabe Trump dares challenge the Supreme Court.

Trump’s ascendancy to power has allowed the fascist-far-Right in America to explode into mainstream view and vent their biases, racism, and their old-world intolerances, under the overarching cover of Nationalist-Christian-White-Supremacist political dreamscape in which Trump, as their ‘Dear Supreme Leader’, was going to rid them of criminals, migrants, immigrants - and emasculate blacks and all non-white Americans of power and privilege that they had earned through their resilience, determination, skills and hard work, in spite of an entitled white majority that ‘own’ America. It has been a dream come true for all the bigots and the racists in Trump's America to indulge their hereto hidden desires to persecute and punish all who differed from them.

No longer was America to hold out its promise of a better life for all, but primarily to the Right-of-Centre Conservatives, and the rest of ‘the left woke devil’s spawn’ could fight for the crumbs left over. After Charlie Kirk’s assassination, this general fascist mob was just itching to go to war on migrants and immigrants (which they did), but also on the ‘evil, lefty lunatics’ that the non-fascist liberal American citizens, the never-Trumpers, were to them – in-spite of the fact that the assassination suspect in custody was proven to be a white, young male, from a Republican gun-toting family - and in spite of the fact that the scenario painted by the authorities about Charlie Kirk’s assassination started to fall apart almost immediately, and the darling of America’s main-stream Right, Israel, is now being suspected as the most likely suspect, by the hard Right-Influencers.  

Upon entering ‘the swamp’ Trump and his minions took on as their rallying cry, ‘drain the swamp’!! Well, once in the swamp, they then went to work to make the swamp big and deep enough to swallow the entire country.

America, after just months of Trump's prolific Presidential Executive Orders, is gasping its last ragged breaths of fast-fading democratic values, and losing its fast crumbling democratic-institutions.

From democracy to despotism in two-step Trump time.   

The Trump family feels divinely vindicated by the incredibly improbable reelection of their twice impeached, multi-indicted, insurrection-inciting, and convicted sexual assaulter of a father, to President. And, not only was he re-elected as a convicted criminal but was given a majority this term, with unlimited power from the entire Republican Party in full bended-knee worship mode.

Trump and his family have taken all that as a sign that they were ordained to rule America, and with the fanatical cult-like following of the Republican Party, blind to all his moral and constitutional law breaking, who have done nothing to dissuade them of that belief, and everything to persuade them that they really are the chosen First Family, the Trump's have taken that political blessing to throw caution to the wind to embrace all opportunities to make money, no matter the ethical and legal concerns.

Not only has the sceptre of total power been handed to Trump and family to do as they please with the norms of the country, but their impunity to breaking all ethical and legal restraints imposed on all other previous Presidents and their families, has been wilfully and actively enabled by the Republicans as they consistently run interference and obfuscate for them, never drawing the line on the open lawlessness of it all.

Things have gotten to the point that Trump’s son Eric was recently quoted as saying that his father has not only 'saved America, but the Middle East, Christianity, and indeed saved GOD'!!  

Apart from the sheer stupidity of saying something that outlandish, it points to a level of elevated hubris that defies belief. But that is what having almost absolute power does, it corrupts absolutely.

Even as their father tears America down, a democratic brick at a time, the Trump family is riding the power wave through the ether meme coin world, even as they surf the halls of power and deal-make in the oil-money soaked world of the Middle East, and now in the blood-soaked world of Gaza beach-front property redevelopment, and the ‘Greater Israel’ project.

Talk of power brokering your way through the greed-infested, money soaked world of the rich and the famous, and having the backing of the lethal militarily capacity of Israel and its world-encircling arm of assassins in the Mossad – all because of the usurped power of the American Presidency by a shameless grafter called Donald Trump, and his equally shallow progeny, the Trumps.

One cannot help but feel that this reign of king Trump is going to be short lived. But the shattered illusion that was once a beacon of hope to all the distressed of the world, the accepting and free America, has been extinguished, because behind it all stood the real America that was wearing the disguise of democracy, equality, fair-play, law and order, and justice, while it harboured dark sentiments that would have done fascist and Nazi Europe proud. It seems, it was all a paper-thin veneer, shockingly and easily ripped off by the ascension of America’s first demented modern monarch, the insatiably power and money hungry Donald Trump.
